The Meh and Me
The Meh and Me is a series where men from the Mithra community have shared their stories of a time they felt The Meh. It explains what they went through, how they felt, delves into their thoughts emotions and behaviours at that time. Our effort with these stories is to break the stereotype of what it is to be a ‘man’ and to showcase the emotional and mental health struggles that men go through.
This is a story about finding the courage to acknowledge that something is wrong, finding the strength to ask for help, and embarking on a journey of self-compassion and kindness.
This is a story about heartbreak, gaslighting, and manipulation ” men are also victims, they also suffer, feel pain, feel lonely, and cry”
This is a very familiar story, the rush of something new, the slow dread of it not working out, the awkwardness of facing others, and the slow onset of The Meh. And then the courage to listen to that inner voice, to face The Meh and engage with it patiently.
This story is something many of us might find relatable, a feeling of guilt and shame, rejections, a sense of meaninglessness that takes over, slowly withdrawing from those around us, and fully feeling The Meh.
